In what might be the most surprising twist since someone discovered the last piece of cake was gone, AEW has decided it’s time for a little spring cleaning – but instead of dust bunnies, they’re tidying up their talent roster. Reports from Pro Wrestling Insider and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful have revealed that AEW, in a move as bold as a Luchasaurus moonsault, is letting go of 10 talents, most of whom have been hanging their hats over at Ring of Honor.
This decision marks the first major roster purge since AEW opened its doors in 2019, making it the wrestling equivalent of finding out your favorite TV show has suddenly axed half its characters.
Here’s the roll call of those reportedly getting the pink slip:
- Stu Grayson, who’s been a Dark Order original so long, he probably has “Join the Dark Order” tattooed somewhere.
- Dasha Kuret, the Spanish commentary and ring announcing dynamo who once decided to try her hand at in-ring action because why not?
- Anthony Henry, one half of The Workhorsemen, who unfortunately had to bow out due to a jaw injury that sounds as painful as listening to a bad promo.
- Gravity, who, despite the name, couldn’t quite keep his AEW career from floating away.
- Jose the Assistant, presumably because every spring cleaning needs to declutter the assistant’s desk.
- Slim J, Parker Boudreaux, Jora Johl, and The Boys (aka the Tate Twins), who all find themselves in the “thanks for coming” category.
Among the shocks and surprises, Stu Grayson’s release might hit the hardest for AEW faithful, considering he’s been part of the furniture since Day One, back when the Dark Order was just a twinkle in Evil Uno’s mask.
And then there’s Anthony Henry, whose recent jaw injury left fans wondering if he’d been sampling the local cuisine a little too vigorously. Before his unfortunate break, Tony Khan was reportedly as keen on Henry as fans are on a surprise debut.
As for The Boys, their ongoing storyline saga on ROH programming now feels like a Netflix series canceled too soon. Will we ever find out what was supposed to happen next? Probably not, but that’s showbiz, baby.
This roster revamp follows hot on the heels of AEW signing not one, not two, but three wrestling megastars: Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, and Mercedes Mone, making this spring cleaning feel more like a home renovation.
So, as AEW reshuffles the deck, fans are left wondering: what’s next for the promotion? And more importantly, where’s the last piece of cake?
